The NYHA's home rink is the beloved Nederland Rink. The Rink is approximately Olympic size, outdoor, open-air and unrefrigerated. The ice is all natural, made with the help of our dedicated ice team and groomed by Zamboni. The ice season generally runs 3 months, from the beginning of December to the end of February.
The Rink has 2 portable construction tower lights for night skating. The facilities are very limited. There is NO running water at the Rink, limited changing facilities, and the spectator area is outside. Bathrooms are porta-potty, so make sure you bring skate guards. Ice quality is sometime dubious late in season, and at any moment players and spectators alike might need to pick up a shovel.
What the Nederland Rink lacks in developed facilities, it makes up in outdoor beauty and a strong, friendly hockey community. The forest is all around, at night the stars are above, and it hearkens back to the good ol' days of pond hockey.
